How We Disclose Personal Information

We may disclose Personal Information to service providers and other parties that help us operate our business, as described below.

Shopify

We use Shopify to operate our online store, storefront, checkout, customer-account functionality, and related ecommerce services. Shopify may process Personal Information about visitors and customers in connection with these services.

You can learn more about Shopify’s handling of consumer privacy information through Shopify’s Consumer Privacy Portal:
https://privacy.shopify.com/en

Payment Providers

We disclose payment and transaction information to payment processors and payment-method providers selected during checkout as necessary to authorize and process payments, process subscription renewals, handle refunds, and prevent fraud.

Subscription Management

We use subscription-management systems, including systems operated by or on behalf of Tea Runners, to manage customer subscriptions, tea selections, billing schedules, renewal processing, account features, and subscription-related communications.

Shipping and Fulfillment

We disclose order and delivery information to shipping and fulfillment providers, including ShipStation, postal carriers, couriers, and fulfillment partners, as needed to prepare, ship, track, and deliver orders.

Email and SMS Communications

We use Klaviyo for email marketing, SMS marketing, signup forms, marketing preferences, and related engagement measurement. We use Postmark for transactional communications, such as order, shipping, subscription, and account-related notices.

Analytics and Advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand Site activity and improve the Site and customer experience.

We also use Google Ads and the Meta Pixel to measure advertising performance, understand whether advertisements lead to visits or purchases, and, where permitted, deliver or help deliver advertising that may be relevant to customers.

Depending on applicable law, the use of advertising cookies, pixels, or similar technologies may be considered “sharing” of Personal Information or processing for targeted advertising. Please see the Targeted Advertising and Privacy Choices section below.

Legal, Compliance, and Business Transfers

We may disclose Personal Information where reasonably necessary to comply with laws, regulations, legal processes, court orders, subpoenas, or lawful government requests; to investigate suspected fraud or misuse; to enforce our agreements; to protect our rights or the safety of others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of our business.

Email Marketing

If you sign up for marketing emails, we may send information about Tea Runners products, subscriptions, sales, special offers, and company news.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by selecting the unsubscribe link included in a marketing email or by contacting us at support@tearunners.com.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not prevent us from sending transactional or service-related communications, such as order confirmations, shipment notices, subscription notices, payment or renewal notices, password resets, or replies to customer service requests.

SMS Marketing

If you expressly opt in to SMS marketing from Tea Runners, we may use Klaviyo to send promotional text messages, such as information about sales, products, subscriptions, promotions, cart reminders, or special offers.

Consent to receive SMS marketing is not a condition of purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to a marketing text message. For help, reply HELP or contact us at support@tearunners.com.

The Site may use cookies or similar technologies to keep track of items placed in your shopping cart, including when a cart has been abandoned. Where you have consented to SMS marketing and we use cart-reminder messages, this information may be used to determine when to send a cart reminder by SMS.

We will not share your SMS opt-in data or SMS consent status with third parties for purposes unrelated to providing the SMS program. We may disclose information, including your phone number and SMS consent status, to service providers that help us operate the SMS program, including Klaviyo, telecommunications carriers, and vendors involved in delivering text messages or maintaining compliance records.

SMS marketing is also subject to our Mobile Terms of Service, which is linked wherever we collect SMS consent.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We and our service providers use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember preferences, support checkout and customer accounts, understand how visitors interact with the Site, measure marketing effectiveness, and, where permitted, support advertising.

These technologies may include:

  • Necessary technologies, which support core Site functions such as shopping cart operation, checkout, customer login, security, fraud prevention, region selection, and privacy preferences;

  • Functional technologies, which remember choices and improve Site features or personalization;

  • Analytics technologies, which help us understand Site traffic, visitor interactions, and performance; and

  • Advertising technologies, which help measure advertising results or deliver advertising based on interactions with the Site, where enabled and permitted.

The particular cookies and similar technologies used on the Site may change as Shopify and our service providers update their services or as we change the tools used on the Site.

For more information about cookies used by Shopify in connection with Shopify-powered storefronts, please review Shopify’s Cookie Policy:
https://www.shopify.com/legal/cookies

Where available, you can manage non-essential cookie choices using our cookie banner or privacy-preference tools on the Site. You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect features such as your shopping cart, checkout, login, or saved preferences.

Targeted Advertising and Privacy Choices

We use Google Ads and the Meta Pixel to measure advertising performance and, where permitted, support advertising based on interactions with the Site.

We do not sell Personal Information for money. However, depending on applicable privacy law, disclosing certain online activity or identifiers to advertising providers through pixels, cookies, or similar technologies may be considered “sharing,” “sale,” or processing for targeted advertising.

Where applicable, you may opt out of the sale or sharing of Personal Information or processing for targeted advertising through the Your Privacy Choices link available on the Site.

Where required by applicable law and supported by our Site privacy settings, we also process recognized Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals as requests to opt out of certain sharing or targeted-advertising activities for the browser or device transmitting the signal.

Retention of Personal Information

We retain Personal Information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including providing products and subscriptions, maintaining business and transaction records, complying with tax, accounting, legal and regulatory obligations, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, enforcing agreements, recording marketing consent and opt-out preferences, and responding to customer requests.

Retention periods vary depending on the nature of the information, why it was collected, applicable legal requirements, and legitimate business needs. When Personal Information is no longer reasonably required, we delete, anonymize, or otherwise dispose of it as appropriate.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect Personal Information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage system is completely secure. We therefore cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your customer-account credentials and should contact us if you believe your account or Personal Information has been compromised.

International Processing and Transfers

Tea Runners is based in Canada and serves customers in Canada and the United States. We also use service providers that may process Personal Information in Canada, the United States, and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate.

As a result, Personal Information may be transferred to and processed outside your province, state, or country of residence. Information processed in another jurisdiction may be subject to that jurisdiction’s laws, including lawful access requests by courts, law enforcement, or government authorities.

If you are a California resident and applicable California privacy law grants you rights in relation to our processing, you may have the right to:

Do Not Track

Some web browsers provide a “Do Not Track” signal. Because there is no consistent industry standard for responding to Do Not Track signals, we do not respond to those signals.

This does not affect our handling of recognized Global Privacy Control signals where required by applicable law and supported by our Site privacy settings, as described above.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, technologies, service providers, legal requirements, or other operational reasons.

When we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on the Site and update the “Last updated” date above.

To make a privacy complaint, please contact our Privacy Officer using the contact information provided above. We will review and respond to privacy complaints in accordance with applicable law.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may have the right to submit a complaint to the privacy or data-protection authority in your jurisdiction.
