No. Gift subscriptions are a one-time purchase that covers a fixed number of boxes and ends automatically once the last one ships — there's nothing to cancel.

Yes. As the gift nears its end, we email both you and your recipient a link to add more boxes to the same gift — same address, same tea preferences, no new sign-up.

Either of you can also extend it anytime after the last box ships from My Account → Options to Continue. Gifts never renew automatically.

You customize the first box at checkout—perfect for a surprise. Your recipient can customize the second box onward.

Gift buyers also have access to the gift subscription account, so they can customize future boxes as well.

We know it’s important to receive teas you’re likely to enjoy while avoiding ones you know you won’t. That’s why we’ve built a highly customizable tea subscription with plenty of choices.

With 30+ teas to choose from each month—and new teas added regularly—your gift recipient has control over which teas they’ll receive.

For gift subscriptions, the first box is customized by the buyer at checkout.

Once the gift recipient has been notified of their gift, they’re invited to activate their account so they can customize future boxes.

Customization is open from the 25th through the last day of the month.

For example, the October box is customized from September 25–30.

Email Reminders
If your recipient has a box coming the following month, they’ll get an email on the 25th when customization opens, and a last-chance reminder on the final day of the month if they haven’t picked yet.

What if I miss the deadline?
After the 1st of the month, the box can no longer be customized through the account. If the deadline is missed, we’ll ship that month’s featured teas based on the gift’s tea preference.

If it’s after the 1st and we haven’t shipped the box yet, you may still be able to catch us through customer support and have your customizations made manually. 😉

Important Note
If your gift begins on the 23rd or 24th of the month, customization for the second box starts just 1–2 days later.

Yes. During sign-up you can send the gift right away, or pick the exact date and time the gift announcement email — with your personal note — lands in their inbox. Perfect for birthdays and holiday mornings.

Please note that if you select a date far enough in the future, you may not be able to customize that first box (because we haven't picked the teas yet).

Sorry, but no. All gift messages are digital and included in the gift email.

Yes. Both you and your recipient get account access — either of you can update the shipping address, delivery schedule, or teas.

Yes. If you’d rather give your recipient the first box in person instead of having them notified by email, simply enter your own email address in both email fields at checkout.

A gift recipient email is required at checkout, but you can change it yourself in My Account any time before the gift’s start date.

All our boxes contain 4 teas, but you can add a 5th tea to any box for $5. Additional teas are one-time add-ons and do not automatically carry over to future boxes.

The first box ships on our next ship day after the gift email is sent (usually the next weekday), via USPS Ground Advantage with tracking — and any teaware in your order is packed into that first box.

Later boxes ship during the first week of their month. We aim to have everything out the door by the 5th, though timing can vary with weekends and holidays. They ship via USPS First Class Mail or USPS Ground Advantage; delivery usually takes 5–10 days.

Each box contains 4 teas. These are our “small” sizes, which in most cases contain about 0.75 oz of tea.

Very light teas, such as chamomile, may contain closer to 0.5 oz, while heavier teas, such as rolled oolongs or rooibos blends, may contain up to 1 oz.

In general, you can steep 30+ cups per box. This is calculated based on 1 tsp of tea per 8 oz of water. Many of our teas can also be re-steeped.

“Not enough tea” is a complaint we don’t hear very often. :)

Gift subscriptions do not renew, so there’s nothing to cancel.

However, in the highly unlikely event that your recipient doesn’t enjoy their gift, we can refund the unshipped portion of your purchase or have the rest of it sent anywhere else you choose.

Gift subscriptions can be managed by both the buyer and recipient.
