Laoshan is a small village near the sea in northeast China. Teas from this region benefit from a unique microclimate featuring coastal breezes, rocky soil, and fresh spring water.

Laoshan black teas are usually small and tippy, lacking the white pekoe-style hairs that give black teas their golden color.

Classic Laoshan Black, grown under the shadow of a sacred mountain, is very smooth and viscous with a robust flavor that has a distinct dark chocolate bite.

People often question whether sugar was added to this tea, but it's simply the weather and soil that make this tea naturally sweet and thick.

Classic Laoshan Black is one of our personal favorites at Tea Runners. It's a tea we always have on our shelf at home!

If you love this tea, you may also want to check out the more expensive versions, including Imperial Grade Laoshan Black and Laoshan Village Black Needles. Both have a similar flavor profile, but undergo more strict plucking and processing, creating slightly different flavor profiles.

English Breakfast is a popular type of black tea blend traditionally enjoyed as part of a hearty breakfast. It is known for its robust, full-bodied flavor and dark color.

There are no hard and fast rules dictating exactly which black teas are blended to make an English Breakfast. It is usually a blend of two or three different teas, typically from Sri Lanka, India, and sometimes China.

Our English Breakfast is a blend of organic black teas sourced from Myanmar, Thailand, and Yunnan, China. It is malty and robust, with light chocolatey notes and a natural sweetness. It stands great on its own but also takes milk and sugar very well.

English Breakfast Reserve is a step up from your average English Breakfast tea because it is blended with a higher grade specialty tea leaves.

Full leaf tea is often considered superior because it retains more of its natural oils and compounds, leading to a richer, more complex flavor and aroma. The whole leaves allow for a slower, more even release of flavors, resulting in a smoother and less bitter taste.

Additionally, full leaf tea tends to be of higher quality, with more antioxidants and nutrients preserved compared to broken leaf tea. It can also be re-steeped multiple times, offering a varied tea-drinking experience.

English Breakfast Reserve is produced from the most-awarded tea company in the world. It is an organic blend of high grade Assam (India), Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and specialty Keemun (China) black teas.

It brews a strong and flavorful cup with notes of decadent caramel.

Lady Lavender, also known as Lavender Lady, is an Earl Grey tea infused with lavender and vanilla but ours comes with an extra twist.

One of our favorite oolongs, this spectacular tea is lightly oxidized but still hefty on floral complexity with little to no astringency.

This fervent Yunnan black tea has the familiar notes of bittersweet chocolate like other black teas from the Wu Liang Mountains, but with the complexities and lingering smoothness of an expertly crafted oolong.

Highly aromatic with a clear tea liquor brewing to a lovely deep golden hue, this tea's subtlety is most appreciated in its natural state.

Due to its higher levels of oxidization, this tea can be stored for several years, but it's so delicious we don't think that will be possible!

Genmaicha (meaning brown rice tea ) was discovered centuries ago when Japanese monks brewed green tea in their rice cauldrons. This particular high-end genmaicha uses green tea superior in quality and roasted sticky rice to create toasty aromas and a rich, nutty sweetness.

Don't blame us if you become as addicted as we did-- it'll have you swooning. We recommend experimenting with tea/water ratio, water temp, and steep times to get it just how you like it.

These dark tea leaves have been painstakingly hand-rolled into perfect pearls, slowly unfurling as they steep into a honeyed hue.

Black Dragon Pearls have a lovely earthiness that is partnered with the slight pungency of stone fruit, and notes of powdered chocolate.

Imperial Red is a masterfully handcrafted small-batch single origin black tea with tasting notes characteristic of black teas from the WuYi Mountains - hints of cocoa, molasses, malt, and fruit with a natural sweetness that lingers on the palate.

This tea is roasted in bamboo baskets over charcoal fires and handmade, giving it a lovely appearance.

Imperial Red is an intriguing tea with complex flavors and a delicious aroma.

Tender tea buds are carefully hand-plucked during the first flush of spring harvest then skillfully rolled into these compact, pearl-like leaves made entirely of young buds.

This Imperial Grade Biluochun is grown in Mojiang, in the Simao region, using a hybrid of Assamica.

The cup is sweet, full-bodied, and lively, with a gentle astringency that balances the sweetness and adds depth.

Mao Xie Oolong — “Hairy Crab” (毛蟹)

From the mist-covered hills of Gan De Village in Anxi County, this exquisite high-grade oolong is a shining example of Fujian’s legendary craftsmanship.

Mao Xie, or “Hairy Crab,” earns its name from the fine silvery hairs on each tender leaf — a mark of freshness and quality. When steeped, these delicate threads drift gracefully to the surface, releasing a lusciously sweet aroma of orchid, cream, and warm sugarcane.

On the palate, Mao Xie reveals a thick, buttery texture balanced by gentle florals and a lingering honeyed finish. Compared to Tie Guan Yin (Iron Goddess of Mercy), it is richer, rounder, and more soothing, with a deeper sweetness that unfolds beautifully over multiple infusions.

A vintage style Pu-erh that combines the very best that Pu-erh teas have to offer with a welcoming earthy sweetness.

We love its smooth, rich body with mild notes of cocoa that rounds out into a woodsy and heady finish.

This tea brews to a deep and strong cup with truly elegant complexities.

Imperial Grade Laoshan Black is the highest grade version of the already high grade Classic Laoshan Black.

This tea comes from the small family farm of the Liang family where all the growing and processing is done on site, under their strict control, to produce the highest quality result.

What separates this tea from the Classic Laoshan Black is that it's produced from the smallest tippy materials of the tea plants, which are hand selected one leaf at a time during the picking process and set aside for this small batch of tea.

This tea starts its growth under the protection of a greenhouse in the winter and early spring, then it's exposed to direct sunlight until picking season starts in late April to early May.

This tea is wonderfully sweet and thick, with notes of cane sugar and chocolate.

Kanchanjangha tea estate is nestled in the foothills of Mt. Kanchenjanga, the third highest mountain in the world, in the eastern part of Nepal.

This tea is an excellent tea to re-steep many times.
